Social skills, practiced in the real world

Adventure Club is a small-group program for children ages 3–7 that builds social skills the way kids actually use them — outdoors, in the community, alongside the people they love.

Base camp

Every session starts with a grounding routine — greetings, schedule preview, and our cozy regulation space for when kids need a reset.

Story + skill

A read-aloud anchors each session's theme — sharing, including others, using words, taking turns. Skills become concrete before we practice them.

Structured play

A guided activity followed by open exploration — kids practice skills with just enough scaffolding, then generalize them freely.

Community settings

Parks, playgrounds, and local spots — because skills only count when they work outside the therapy room.

Abby the capybara, Adventure Club's mascot

Say hello to
Abby

Abby is Adventure Club's very own capybara — the calmest, friendliest creature in the whole forest. She loves making new friends, taking turns, and finding the coziest spot at Base Camp when things feel like a lot.

Abby shows up in our stories, our songs, and our session materials. When kids see her, they know: this is a safe place to try, to practice, and to belong.

Patient Calm Inclusive Great at sharing Loves Base Camp

You're not just watching. You're part of it.

Adventure Club is built on a simple belief: children learn best when their whole village shows up.

It takes a village — and we mean it

At Adventure Club, parents, caregivers, and siblings are active participants, not bystanders. When your child watches another child turn-take, share space, or regulate after a hard moment — and sees the adults around them respond consistently — that's the learning.

Every adult in the group is part of the prompting team. You don't need to know ABA. You just need to follow Marissa's lead, use the language we practice together, and trust that every calm, encouraging adult in that space is a model your child is learning from.

Parents & caregivers

Practice prompting strategies alongside Marissa — then use them at home, at the park, everywhere.

Siblings

Natural peer models. Watching and playing alongside a sibling is powerful, real-world practice.

Other families

Your village. Prompting and modeling by any calm adult in the group reinforces skills for every child.

Marissa (BCBA)

Facilitates, coaches, models, and adjusts supports in real time so every child can participate successfully.

Families leave each session with the same language, the same prompting strategies, and the confidence to carry them forward — because everyone practiced together.

Simple, family-friendly rates

One rate per child — siblings get a discount, and the adults who show up to support never pay a thing.

Additional child

$30

per sibling

Siblings (same household) attend at a reduced rate.

FAQ

Do I need to be an ABA client to join?

No. Adventure Club is open to any family in the San Diego area with a child ages 3–7. If your child has an active ABA provider, Marissa is happy to coordinate so skills carry across settings.

What does "accompanying adults" mean?

Up to 2 adults per family may attend each session at no charge — a parent, grandparent, older sibling, or other caregiver. Adults aren't just welcome; they're expected to participate. Marissa will coach you on how to prompt and model throughout the session.

Can I bring more than one child?

Yes! Your first child is $50 per session, and any additional children from the same household attend for $30 each. Siblings often make excellent peer models for each other.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions rotate through community settings in the San Diego area — parks, playgrounds, and similar natural environments. Location details are shared in advance of each session.

Does insurance cover this?

Adventure Club may be covered by Medi-Cal/CHG, Aetna, and Optum depending on your plan and your child's authorization. Private pay is always available. Contact Marissa to discuss your specific situation.
